It was an awesome show but by the end my D800 kicked the bucket after only 3 1/2 months. But at least I got some great images.
It started off with the "Patriots" squad in what I believe are F-14's.

And then my favorite, the newest and most advanced fighter ever made, the F-22 Raptor. I especially like the condensate that forms around the wings, very cool. And like a Harrier, this plane can stop in mid air and hover

And then here's an assortment of planes and of course the Blue Angles but unfortunately I've used up my 20 images. I'll have to post them later or in a blog.
As for my D800, it was working beautifully all the way until the end of the day. It suddenly stopped focusing and in fact wouldn't even try very hard. I turned the camera on and off a couple of times and it started working again but it was making a very strange sound, not like the normal sound. After maybe another 10 shots it got the dreaded "err" and every image after that was cut in half length-wise. The shutter has seemingly died on me. Granted, I have taken quite a few shots but no where near the 200,000 the shutters are rated for. I also noticed that the later the day got, the more gunk I was seeing on the sensor. They were building up throughout the shoot. I'm thinking that maybe what I was seeing was the shutter denigrating, or not, who knows. I'm not too bummed since I was planning on sending it in for the famous left-focus issue anyway but I guess I'll also be getting a new shutter box so that I can start the countdown all over again. Fortunately, my dealer here in San Diego has taken care of sending it in for me. Another great reason to buy you camera from a local dealer instead of the internet.
