    This is true. I love my GTI, but when the roads get rough it kind of lets me down. That being said it is hard to let it go for something with more dirt road capability. Never thought of raising it up.

    I measured my wife's 2017 Golf and its ground clearance is 6-1/4", both at the front lip and the lowest point of the engine/oil pan. That's not too bad. One of these days I'll stop by the VW Dealer and measure a GTI there. I've found sales literature on ground clearance is sometimes wrong.

    My wife is on the road for an out-of-town function and phoned me today en-route to say that she saw an NS military train at a fairly distant passing siding. To find a train "in the hole" at that location has become unusual, as is a daylight southbound, so I grabbed the D5100 and headed out. Glad I went, as I was able to get some shots of it in the siding, then meeting a northbound freight and rolling again at track speed.
