Thank you. I was fortunate to have made a wrong turn in town, as this time I arrived on the sunny side of the train. It was a bit backlit, but not too badly.

Taken Sunday afternoon, NS 192 cants into a curve at Simpson, SC and advances north at track speed.

Nice catch Sandpatch. I really like the low angle you used for this shot.

Thank you. I wanted to get the old Southern Railway station sign in the shot, so had to stand along the shoulder of the highway which was a bit worrisome. I staked out the spot, figured out my settings and stood in a safe place until train time.

Here's a close up of the sign, battered and faded, but carrying on.

I really like finding those artifacts of the past. They make me smile & feel sad for what is lost at the same time.

The last vestiges of traditional railroading are becoming harder and harder to find. There are a number of mainlines in my region that have no remaining structures and no signals, leaving a right-of-way nearly bereft of photo props of any kind. Mileposts are about the only thing to work with.

Yes we are getting to the place where all locomotives look the same & all signals also have a sameness. I saw this in Fostoria OH along the old long gone Nickle Plate RR right of way. I'd passed this spot many times. but happened to look right as I passed by & saw it.
