Finally... the solution to the rubber body cover on older cameras getting sticky?
My old D200 rubber body covering was getting really sticky. I tried cleaning it with warm water, warm water and soap, Simple Green, rubbing alcohol... all to no avail. It still felt disgusting.
Last night, I wiped it down with a cloth wet with 303 Protectant, a rubber/vinyl/plastic preservative. This morning, the camera felt like new! I hope this treatment lasts a while.

.
303 is the brand...
I also use 303's "automotive" protectant. It sure seems like the same stuff as the "aerospace" protectant.
I use it to clean and treat my fly fishing lines, my car's dash and door skins, etc. I use their fabric protectant on my boat cover. Good stuff.
I was worried it might make the camera's body cover slippery but that was not the case at all. I still don't know how long it will be effective, but if it reverts to being sticky soon, I'll post a follow-up.Last edited by desmobob; 05-13-2022 at 12:48 AM.
