Nikon Z fc Thoughts

It's nice. I like the retro look, like a modern day F series although they had the DF from 2013. The dp review with camera's in it's price range only list one camera with in body stabilization and that's the Fuji X-S10. It's also the most expensive of the bunch.

I got a Fuji X Pro-2 cause carrying around a D850 and lenses was getting a bit much.
I'll look to see if I can swap in a year or so as I _much_ prefer Nikon's menu structure to Fuji's. I'm used to Nikon's.

So the Z fc was announce today.

If it had IBIS they might have gotten my money. :(

If it had IBIS, they would have gotten plenty more of your money! LOL. The only thing tempting me to switch to mirrorless is focus peaking, and right now that’s not enough. Once I can see and get my hands on a Z fc, I might change my mind, but I doubt it. Gonna have to be REALLY special to get me to switch.

Look at it from another point of view. The older Z line will come way down in price. Always a bright side to things

Just went and had a look at the B&H video, and it doesnt look too bad at all. Now all I have to do is find one to actually pick up and hold.

I like it. I recommended it to my sister last night. She enjoyed photography years ago but life happened. She tried out my Z6 while we were in Fort Smith and really liked it. I actually recomended the Z5 while we were there and the Zfc last nigh. Either one would work for her and the 1 year old grandson...

I do wish that they had put IBIS in this one. That was a disappointment. Even so I think it is a good DX body.

Keep pushing those Nikons. Hope they sell well. You getting a commission?

IBIS would have been a selling point. Nice feature upgrades from Z50 but will only old timers like us buy it?

It looks like an interesting addition to the Z line. The retro look is appealing, reminds me of my film Nikons. That being said, I don't see any reason to trade my Z50 in for one. The new features, i.e. autofocus enhancements could be added to my Z50 with a firmware update. The new charging option via usb is enhanced from the existing configuration because you can use the camera while charging. On the downside, there is no built-in flash, no FN buttons, no user selected (U1/U2) selections on the the mode dial. Maybe I am overlooking something, and please enlighten me if I am, but I think I'll stick with my Z50. If I have the urge to go retro, I'll pull out one of my N80s.

It's not a new idea. As mentioned before, there was the Nikon DF. Let's be honest, it is a less-than state-of-the-art body given a retro style and more analog control dials. There is a segment out there of hobbyist with a lot of disposable income that will pay the price and consider it a bargain compared to Leica. Think doctors, lawyers, university academia. Working photographers will not be rushing to buy.

Hey, in my shopping around to replace my infrared camera I have been looking at buying an older Fuji X-series and converting. The infrared photography is a different mindset anyhow, so I'm thinking that having the retro-analog dials might enhance the experience. Prices are something holding me back. But I keep looking.
