Conjunction 2020

This is the best I can do without an actual telescope. D500, 600mm f/4 ED-IF AIS Nikkor and TC-300 2x. Total magnification, including crop factor, is 36x. It took 3 exposures, composited. Jupiter, its moons and Saturn had considerably different luminance's.

While I was out there, there was a terrific waning gibbous moon. The above set up is perfect for shooting the moon, this image is essentially uncropped.

Congrats, you got the photo I really wanted to make. Very unfavorable weather at my location for days. When I tried 1 night past the closest conjunction I was rushing with slightly poor conditions and it went bad enough that I had to do some disassembly of my star tracker mount later. I don't even want to start explaining that.

Very nice, I did try to get an image but yeah all mine are over exposed. And I gave up and just enjoyed the night.

You can't get Jupiter, its moons and Saturn all in the same exposure, the range of luminance's is just too great. I had to expose for each individually and then composite the three to get one image.
