Be VERY CAREFUL with your QXD cards

I dropped one of my XQD cards on the floor under my desk so I reached in to get it and slide it on the floor up to the rug my chair sits on and when it made contact with the rug it broke the corner of the card that has the connections on. It wasn't broke it was just separated so I thought I would just put a piece of thin scotch tape around it to hold it in place. Well, the close tolerance of the card reader catches the tape and won't work. Bottom line is that I ruined a $135.00 64gig card with a gentle push against a rug. This was done with very little pressure, so please learn from my mistake and baby your XQD cards to help prevent this from happening to you. If I did get it to go in and bend a pin in my camera I would really be out some money. Just be careful because this was ruined with very slight pressure.

Sorry, I was referring to the claims that QXD are are newer and faster therefore (physically) stronger. I call that fake news because it's probably Advertising speak describing something accurate engineering wise but distorted because Ad writers are never responsible for what they imply when they (famously) claim it's better because it has more chrome.
Obviously from your experience more _secure_ doesn't mean we can use them as frisbees or hockey pucks.

Under FWIW I also use a card reader and handle the cards to download. From now on I'll be a mite more careful with both the QXDs and SDs in the process.

I would just like to add that I am very picky about how all of my equipment is handeled and keep everything I own in excellent condition, even back to my first Nikon F purchase in 1971 which is still in like new condition after all these years. This is one reason I was so surprised that this happened. I am very careful with all of my equipment. Sometimes things just happen I guess. Just wanted to share my experience to let you know that this COULD happen even if you are careful.

Update on XQD card problem. Well I waited several days and considered all my options and the $135.00 replacement cost for my card and decided to try and fix it myself. I didn't want any glue oozing out onto my contacts in the card so I looked around and found this small bottle of J.B.Weld that had a tiny brush so I could control what parts got glue on them and it worked just fine. It dries in 10 seconds. I examined it very closely and everything looked fine so I tried it in my card reader and it worked just fine. I tried it several more times just to be sure and all was well. Less than $4.00 for the J.B.Weld and a little patients saved me a $135.00 replacement.
