I am headed out shortly to Utah to see Yellowstone, Deadhorse State park and the big five national parks before too long and I am looking for any tips you may have to offer. I plan on taking my D500, Sigma 10-20mm, Sigma 17-50mm, Nikon 70-200mm with a 2x extender and finally my Tamron 150-600mm in case I get to see any critters or large animals. My buddy has a tripod that I can use because we are flying out. All suggestion are welcome and thanks to those who respond.

When are you going?

If you can fit that full frame in, and those lenses will work with full frame, I would take it. You want the full width for shooting Deadhorse.

Wide angle is always a must at these locations, but you better pack that tele too. I stumbled across lots of wildlife in Yellowstone and quite a few birds in the Utah Canyonlands! I’m new here, so I don’t have anything to show off, but I’ll try to dig up some pix to share in the future.

I wouldn't consider any trip worth taking viable unless I had a good tele or two. Bison, bears and elk can get pretty aggravated when you try to shoot them 10 feet away with a 20mm.

Sorry guys I dropped the ball on this! I will be visiting Screen Shot 2018-04-19 at 4.59.41 PM.png
Also Yellowstone and Utah's, Dead Horse State Park for a total of seven parks. My buddy lives near Salt Lake and has it planned out and has reserved hotel rooms for the trip. We will fly in and be gone for 19 days.

As of right now I am taking my D500, Nikon 20-200mm F2.8 with 2x teleconverter, Tamron 150-600mm for possible animals and critters. Also Sigma 17-50F2.8, Sigma 10-20mm. If I can get it in the bag for carry on my D600 and Tamron 24-70mm F2.8. Getting this all as a carry on is going to be a problem I think. I have available six batteries three chargers and plenty of memory.

my neighbors visited bryce and zion during spring break, lots and lots of people. Zion they had to pay for parking outside the park. Long wait to get on the bus.

I would take a camera on the plane and ship every thing else that i Would possible use.

I would hope you get to drive thru grand teton np on your way to yellowstone and on return. It is my favorite park, nineteen days there and i would cry on leaving. If zion get a bit much i would not hesitate to run down to the north rim.

I asked my buddy that lined this all up and he said we were not going to Tetons. I was hoping we were because I have been watching many Steve Mattheis videos shooting in the Tetons and it looks great. I guess this will give me a reason to go back!
