Great shots here Paul, you can almost feel the heat and smell that molten metal so a subject well captured that has that days gone by hands on feel rather than replaced by machines in some modern foundry's.
No.3 looks like it could have spoiled your day if you were not protected, hope the camera was ok.

I remember a few pours ago, the girl assigned to that particular task had some splash get under her face protector. I'm told it was a minor splash but when we're talking molten iron (about 3,000 degrees fahrenheit (or 1,650 C. if your prefer)) to the FACE, I'm not so sure there is such a thing as "minor". Not too mention that girl kept right on working her shift without missing a beat after it happened! Nobody even knew about it until the pour was complete. In talking to her sometime later, she downplayed the whole incident. From what I've been told any significant burn from the iron itself all but guarantees not only immediate third-degree burns but a truly nasty infection on top of it. Turns out she got off "lucky" in that regard.
