Do you use a lens hood or not

WHAT DO YOU DO?
I watch a lot of videos on photography almost every day to learn as much as I can. I have noticed that many of the people in the videos leave off the sunshade when shooting. Myself, I use my lens hoods 100% of the time to keep out extra light and to help protect the lens. The one exception to when I leave it off is the rare time when I use an on board flash that would give me a shadow in the lower section of my photo. I am curious as to how often others use their lens hoods.

Always. Saved my Tam when I got dumped last year -- without it the front glass would have landed face first in sharp gravel from about 5 feet up

IF the lens has a petal hood, it's on the lens.

Some of my legacy glass has integral slide-out hoods. But most don't, so a couple have 3rd-party hoods on them.

If it's an über-wide or fisheye, it's without a hood.

I always have the hood on my lens. I have taken off my Sigma 10-20 wide angle a couple times when i got an odd shadow... but that is the only times I can think of.

I prefer to use lens hoods, but admit that I don't always use it on my 70-300 because that one is a pain to carry and mount with my current bag.

I leave my hoods on most of the time for "protection" of the front glass. Traipsing through mountains and the snow/rain sort of requires it. But other than that hoods are very seldom of any useful purpose. (... other than making your 'tool' look bigger. LOL) That being said: I never use a hood on my 50mm prime or shorter wide angles, or indoors (cuz that's just plain goofy).

I use a Lens Hood 99.9% of the time personally. I even bought one for my 50mm & 28mm for my Nikon FE2

I use a hood on all the lenses in the lens farm save one.

The 105mm AF-D Micro didn't come with a hood. The front glass is recessed into the lens body about an inch or so.
It doesn't need a hood.

I didn't always use one , it didn't seem to make much of a difference having it on or off to me so, If its windy I take it off, to keep the wind from shaking the lens as much.
