High ISO street

I was out yesterday and took the D810 & 28-300mm with me to shoot a few images while in town shopping, at least it was dry!

The light was not that good so I ended up shooting between 4000 - 8000ISO but I am pleased with the results.

Not bad at all,as you will known so long as you dont go too high for the subject type then no reason not to,at the moment ime pushing the D7200 to high for birds but its getting me out shooting and thats the main thing.

I completely agree Mike, have to say I am impressed though with the IQ and as good as the 28-300 is I am sure top rate glass would have delivered even better results but I do not need it (and can't afford it!).

A friend has just purchased the 200-500 Nikon lens that he uses on his D7200 and the results he gets are stunning but it is a £1K+ lens and as I have the Tamron 150-600mm for airshow/cars I do not need another lens.

I am impressed though with the auto iso flexibility on the D810 and have no regrets moving to it from the D3s.

The main point is your last - the capability of the camera to deliver regardless of light / weather is what gets us out!

All this makes me think back to my days shooting film and how lucky we were with films like the XP1 / XP2 that we thought were magic if we could get good quality images at 1600ASA - a little different to what modern digital sensors can deliver!

I worked as a PJ for many years and often had to push to get the results needed to cover the images required - wish we had been able to use digital in those days.................good education in using light and working to limits though!
