Kite Surfing

Attached are three shots of kite surfers off the coast of the Kenai Peninsula, Homer Alaska. They were leaping anywhere from 10 to 12 feet. I came upon them as I was heading to the hotel at the end of the day. I only had about 30 minutes shooting time before they wrapped it up and came on shore.

I have a ton of these shots I took last summer at the beach (see my gallery).
They are a lot of fun to shoot and they do look exciting.

Curt, I don't get much in the way of kite surfing in Atlanta so it was a treat and a shooting opportunity I could not pass up. Unfortunately it was late in the evening and I only had a few minutes shooting time and didn't get many shots in before they came in.

Anthony, it was very cold. I had on a very heavy coat and was still chilled by the wind. These guys were wearing wet suits from head to toe. It still had to be cold even dressed like that.

Had to revisit this thread...

I was watching some TV show this weekend, I can't remember what it was. One of those home video shows. These guys were kite sailing, but on a snow covered mountain. A gust of wind carried this poor guy about 200 ft in the air and then just died out. He dropped like a rock! Luckily he fell into a snow bank and was unharmed, but wow.

Reminded me of this pic, hehe!
