    Ferguson, MO

I am strongly considering a road trip to Ferguson, MO after the Thanksgiving holiday. Just curious if anyone else would want to possibly meet up there?

No, not to protest or anti-protest. I want to photograph.

Yes, I am serious. I shouldn't have to tell you the physical danger you'd be putting yourself in, that's all over the news. I figure anyone willing to make this trip is already aware of that. I will be traveling from Ohio to Missouri along I-70, so if you're on the way, I'll offer to pick you up.

Ah, no. 8 years in the military taught me not to go looking for trouble. Have a safe trip.

Just a question and please don't take this the wrong way, but what do you hope to accomplish that actual news photogs have not already?

Too much at risk for me as a family man, but I wish both luck and safety. There's definitely a lot of human drama to document in that area...

Not at all, it's a valid question.

I firmly believe that what is being shown on the news is a very skewed side of the story. I'm more interested in the people and families caught in the wake than those causing the waves. The "normal" citizens. The business owners. The children.

Why do people go to anything (think Olympics as an extreme and probably silly example) that they can't get from the news.

I think being there and capturing the emotions of the people caught in between could be interesting and show a different perspective. Each to his own.

It was my experience when working for the newspaper that whatever it is that's happening, the real story, the real drama, the real pain, is how everyone reacts to it. Not necessarily the horse race itself, but the spectators.
