So here's my stab at it...

Being a newbie, any advise on things that could have been done differently (maybe that's the intent for the end of the thread?) is welcome.

Cool idea!

What I like with the B&W that I don't know how to do with basic Aperture, is get the definition around the car's roof and the dark open room inside the barn behind the car.

With Aperture, I added a little contrast, plus tried to boost shadows some. I then had to over-expose a touch, but still ended up with the definition between pretty weak along the car's roofline.

Imported into Photoshop CC 2014, enabled lens correction and minor edits in RAW, used Content Aware fill to remove power lines and pole, cropped, used Viveza to lighten shadows in the door and add more contrast to sky, then Topaz Adjust to apply Vintage Grunge II preset.

Result of Third Thought. Not where I was headed, but where I arrived. A result of extreme exposure merging and converting to B&W.
