Sometimes we forget the person behind the product. And sometimes, we ourselves forget to be the person before the product.

I feel blessed to be a part of this group.

This is a picture of one of my stepchildren, his name is Tyler he just graduated from Six grade to seventh in this photo. He is holding his certificate for making Honor Roll for 3 quarters (in a row) Now what makes Tyler and this photo so special is Tyler has "Lebers" along with "Retinitis Pigementosa" which has made him legally blind with an eye sight of 10/400. He watches TV 12 inches from the screen to see it. Everything he looks at has to be 6 inches or closer for him to see it with one eye. Three years ago he was in a special ed class for vision impaired children that did not challenge him, but at that time he did start to read and write Braille. After we relocated out to the country we found out that our school district did not have any kind of special Ed classes for Tyler, and we would have no choice but to put him into a main stream classroom and he would have the help of a full time Aid. Well here he is two years later sitting on the Honor Roll 3 times. A lot of students and some parents have said the only reason he made the Honor roll was because the Aid was giving him the answers. This year because of budgets cuts Tyler lost his Aid and now must do all his work on his own and all his work comes to him now in Braille. To a lot of people surprise he has made Honor roll both quarters this year and is working on making it six times now for the third quarter. Simply amazing for a student who three years ago was playing with preschool toys in a class room to a student who is now competing in the Illinois Braille Challenge to see how many pages of Braille he can read. Right now he has read 220 pages of Braille in one month.

All of us have that one photo that moves us like no other that we have taken. It may be because of the beauty of the scene, the emotional content or perhaps the circumstances surrounding the image. Whatever the reason, post your favorite, before you find another favorite.
I love this thread and it's taken me some time to respond, not because I don't have any or too many favorite photos, but because I spent quite a bit of time thinking about what photography and photos mean to me.

Regardless of how many "pretty pics" I take, I always come back to this one for so many reasons, some obvious, others not.

This photo was taken in the summer of 2009 and Nicky was one of those "once in a lifetime" dogs. I always felt that he was my guardian angel who just decided to incarnate into this dog body. I was playing around in the studio with some lighting and for 11 years, he was my best model, so we were having a grand time with "self portraits". Three months later, he died.

This photo always reminds me of how fleeting moments in life are, and when a little voice (or gut instinct) tells you this is a photo you should make, take the shot. Sometimes you don't know why until later. I keep this photo in a special frame in my home, where I can always see it. Even though I love all the other pets who have wandered into my life, and even though there are many other photographs more "technically worthy" of being framed, this is the one that always tugs at my heart.

Very nice Helene, I have lost my fair share of dogs friends as well over the years. It is always heartbreaking, but part of life.
You have to stand for something, otherwise you will fall for anything.
Despite the high cost of living, itís still very popular.
Light travels faster then sound, that is why some people appear bright until they open their mouth.

Nice picture, Helene. And you brought a tear to my eye. My dog is like my child and I don't think I'll ever be prepared to lose her, just like the ones I have had in the past.
I can see the love in Nicky's eyes.
