Question about a lense

I have a D3200 that came with the 18-55mm lense and the 50-200mm lense. While on vacation, the small lense, 18-55mm lense fell out of my bag and is now broken. So I've been looking for a replacement lense (18-55mm). I've looked on a ton of sites (B&H, Adorama, etc) and I'm having an issue. The broken lense I have says AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G. The ones I'm seeing online say AF-P Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6GII. Does anyone know what's the difference? I'm going on vacation this coming Friday and would like to have a new lense for close ups. Thanks for any responses

You really should look at the 18-140 or 18-105 instead. Much better lenses and with more length. They both make great everyday lenses

First off, howdy and welcome to Nikonites!!!

I agree with Don, the 18-140mm is going to be a more useful lens I would think.

Regarding your question though, the AF-P style lenses are a new upgrade over the AF-S G series, and consequently are not complete backward compatible. There may be functions, specifically VR I believe, that you won't be able to control with the D3200 body since the AF-P lenses didn't exist when that camera was released. I don't think you'll find the AF-P lens to be a suitable replacement, but would think you should still be able to find the AF-S model from resellers.

Another replacement to consider is a usedAF-S Zoom-Nikkor ED 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF DX. This is a really good lens available for less than $150. It is sharper and a little faster than the 18-55. It is small and light and the extra 55-70mm of length is very usefull.
