Are the Chinese the next Sigma,Tamron,Kiron ect

The older members will remember how these lens companies started,by making cheap inferior lenses,some fell by the wayside but others made it,will the Chinese follow the same rout and we see great lenses coming from them in a few years.

I really doubt you will ever see high quality lenses from China as long as the workforce are basically slave labor. Slaves have no investment in the final quality of the product. They put as little effort into their work as possible.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. What I have learned in the off-road business is that the Chinese can build junk or they can build outstanding products. Comes down to the spec of the parts being made and the expectation of the contractor. There are plenty of us on here that remember when the Japanese first started making cars and we all laughed.

Are you saying Datsuns used to rot because they did not,well not till it came over cloudy or rained

I do see the next geaneration coming from China,as you say they can make gear to whatever standard the customer wants.

Interesting that Volvo now Chinese owned will make no new conventional cars after 2019,they will continue with what ever the current models are at that time but new models will be hybrid or full electric

iPhone is a great example, made in China to a high specification. Of course people will argue, but based on consumer data it is a good product even if I hate Apple.

It is all about business. If there is money to make, they will work toward it. With their factories, almost nothing is impossible. Of course if you are thinking of paying peanuts for a great product, then you just have to wait much longer. However, if you are looking for a reasonable priced quality product, it will happen. Currently we are paying for branding more than the actual production cost. Competition is good for consumers.

Here in Thailand lots pf Products Made in China. They're are great products. I have to say that also lots of cheap 50 cents products around, th equality is 50 cent worth. I think that China delivers quality products as same as many other countries. If not not one company will expand to China.

There are already very good flash units being made in China and marketed under various brand names.
