Lens advice

I have the D3300 with the following -
Nikon AF-P DX Nikkor 70-300mm F4.5-6.3G VR - Just bought recently and only have used a few times but like what I see so far.
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II - Use this one the most for shooting.
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G VR II -
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm F1.8G -

So would it pay to get rid of the top 3 lenses in the list and just buy a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR Lens?

in my mind the 18-300 would replace the 18-55 & 70-300. I wouldn't have to have as many lenses in my bag, and swap lenses while out shooting.
Either way I will probably get rid of the 55-200.
Any advice would be great.

I'd replace the 18-55 with the Nikon 18-140mm DX zoom.
I'm not a fan of the big 18-300 lenses. Too slow and too soft. YMMV.
See if you can rent the lenses that interest you before you buy.

The 18-140mm is an excellent lens.

I think you would be very happy with it for a walk around lens and then you'd have the 70-300 when you need that extra reach.

I wasn't even considering that one. Is there any difference besides the reach on the 18-105 vs 18-140?

I never had the 18-105, but from everything I have read, the 18-140 is an all around better lens.

In addition to the extra reach, the 18-140 offers increased sharpness, better VR, and a metal mount.

You can usually find these used or refurbished for around $250 - $300.

Yeah I came across the same info doing some recent digging looks like the 18-140 is just all around better.

I have both the 18-140 and recently purchased the 70-300. I use the 18-140 as my general, everyday lens and then swap out to the 70-300 if I am shooting something that requires the extra reach. For example, I was at my daughter's soccer camp/game and from where we were I couldn't fill the frame with her with 140.

The overlap did not bother me too much as I see/use these a two totally different lenses.

I would keep the first and last lens, and pick up an 18-140mm...But, without knowing what you like to shoot I'm just saying what I would do.
Also I hear the 18-55 VRII is a nice and sharp lens, and has very close focusing, so you may want to keep that as well.:indecisiveness:

I have owned both the 18-105 and the 18-140. The 18-140 was one of my favorite lenses when I shot the D7100. My wife wanted the all in one ease so I bought her the 18-200. it does not hold a candle to the 18-140. She now wants a 18-300 but I think she would not be happy with the quality of the photos it produces. We already share a 70-300 and it is a great lens on both her D7100 and my D750.

Dump the two middle ones and get a 18-140 You will be covered from 18-300 between those 2 lenses. Then you just need a wide angle. Get the Tokina 11-16 and you will be covered.

I suspect the 18-200 you bought your wife is the one made in China. If you can get the older 18-200 made in Japan, it is a great lens.

So you are saying let go of these two?
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G VR II

Yes I also have the Tokina on my list for a little later.

Ok looks like I am going to look into a used\refurbished 18-140. I put my self on the Notify at B&H for when it comes in. Any other good places to buy used/refurb?

Buydig is another place I have bought from but they don't have the 18-140 refurbed.

There are many places to look for used or refurbished lenses. You could always post a Want to Buy (WTB) thread in the marketplace and see if a member on here may have one they are looking to sell!

You could also look at the following:

Adorama:
https://www.adorama.com/

Nikon USA:
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-store/refurbished-cameras.page?#!/tag:8ps:Lenses

I know I have seen a lot of members on here say that they have purchased from KEH in the past as well.
https://www.keh.com/

If you have a local camera store (not big box, but an actual camera store) they often sell used lenses.

There is one in my area that will ship to you (National Camera Exchange), but they do not have any 18-140's currently.
https://www.natcam.com/

I was able to find one at Allen's Camera in PA for you ($300):
=Nikon-AF-S-DX-18-140mm-f%2F3.5-5.6G-ED-VR-%28USED%29---S%2FN-60157932-Used-Nikon-Lenses&catalog[product_guids][0]=1158603]Nikon AF-S DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR (USED) - S/N 60157932 - Used Nikon Lenses - Allen's Camera & Video | Product Specifications

Good luck in your search. Hopefully this helps!

Well i think I want to at least unload my 55-200 first. I bought it as a refurbed so what might I get for it on the market?
