Hopefully sharpest at 600mm, read a lot that the first started to lose it's edge beyond 500mm. Should be another great lens, I really like their VC. Will be interesting to see how well it handles with the new TC's.

Having recently (well, April, doesn't time (summer) fly?!) got a Sigma C, I hope the new Tamron sucks

Well even if the new Tamron does NOT suck, it will have a hard time beating out my Sigma C picture quality plus mine came with the USB Dock. Also, it would be some time lapse before we know if the new lens fixes the reliability issues on the old lens.

Sounds like a good lens. Hope it is all they are saying it is. I am really happy to have my Nikon 200-500 5.6... But I really like that they have these big lenses at a reasonable price.

Was it an early stage problem that they later fixed in production?

I was going to hopefully pickup one once they dropped price.

I really don't think that many people have had a problem with the present ones. Out of all the ones here including me I think wev is the only one that has had a problem. Chime in if there have been others.

I don't really like it but am acknowledging that I saw the response. This stinks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You can imagine how I feel. I have been an ardent supporter of the Tamron lenses that I have -- when they work, they are, in concept and in action, excellent. The company's customer service and acknowledgement of responsibility is beginning to sour badly, however.

Also, apparently Tamron is shifting most of their lens production from Japan to China. I would avoid purchasing anything as complex as a good lens that is made in China!

I think we could be getting near the end of that now,if new lens is crap it will not be because its made in china it will be the Tamron spec, how quickly we forget the old ime not buying that crap motorbike/car its made in Japan.

I have to disagree. Yes, Japan made junk in the 50's, but they learned how to make good quality merchandise. Look at the quality of their motorbikes, cars, electronics, and yes even cameras and lenses today. However, what Japan had, which China does not have, is the workers have some basic freedoms and an incentive to produce good products. However, under communism, the workers are basically slaves with no incentive to improve their products. Look at the Chinese produced pet food, which recently poisoned many pets? How about the wood flooring the Chinese produced for Lumber Liquidators? Look at their farm raised talipia where they suspend chicken coops over the ponds so the fish can eat the chicken droppings? In fact, can you name one quality product from a communist country? Certainly not the Yugo from Yugoslavia! No, if you want to buy Chinese made junk lenses, it is your right. But it is also my right to avoid supporting China whenever possible (which unfortunately if becoming more difficult daily).

My Tammy 150-600 has been sitting on the shelf. For wildlife, I usually go out with two cameras, my D500 wears the 300mm f/4 with 1.4x TD, and the D7200 has the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6. I can't get myself to sell the Tammy, though.

Oops :D

Korean products were all bad for a while but then they picked up the ball and now they can be quite good. They will build to whatever standard the client is willing to pay for.
