My recently acquired and AI'd 55 f/3.5 P.C has been spending a lot of time lately on my D7100 for shooting backyard critters. Today, I had a bit of an epiphany when I took it down to the neighborhood park with the fam. While I had my PK-13 and 200 f/4 Q.C in tow for extreme closeups and bird shots, turns out I never needed them. The 55 f/3.5 + modified TC-16A had me nicely covered from closeups of bees and flowers to portrait shots, making me wonder if it's a pretty close-to-ideal day hiking combo for me. It has some limitations, of course, with regard to low-light, wideangle and telephoto shots, but did remarkably well in the range it covers. A few sample shots below:
