What kind of lens should I own?

I have a Nikon D7000 and I am getting ready to go on vacation to Mexico and need a new lens. WHat kind of versatile lens should I get if I can only afford 1 lens and I need a low F Stop like F2 or F4?

I'll be up front and honest in saying - my first thought was, "Drive down there and ask a citizen?" LOL

Sorry, it's Friday, I'm just a week out from vacation, and I'm freshly buzzed from the morning Monster. :D :D

Based on this I too would suggest the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD as my first and best suggestion.

My second suggestion would probably be the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC MACRO OS HSM Contemporary.
