18-55 kit lens help

I had my camera in a Lowepro bag and it slid off my shoulder and landed on a carpet floor,

The lens shade was pushed up on the lens where it normally does not go.

When I measure the right side of the lens from the left there is a slight difference. (Measuring from the zoom ring to the end of the lens).

Can someone do me a favor and measure there lens and see if it measures the same on both sides?

I don't want to buy a new lens of possible.

Thanks!

Chances are that something is wrong but it might still work.

  1. Have you mounted it on the camera?
  2. Does it still zoom?
  3. Does it still focus in the auto mode?
  4. Does it still focus in the manual mode?
  5. How do the pictures look?

It still seems to work in all modes.
Pictures look ok, but to me the right side seem to not Be as sharp.

Though it could be paranoia....

When I first got my camera 3 years ago my 18-55 fell out of my hands and hit the floor. Cracking the auto-manual switch. I super glued it and no problems.

Ok, here are two photos:

Cam Bapt 036.jpg

I leveled the tripod before shooting.
the second photo was too dark for some reason, so I lightened it. I don't think that will cause a problem with focus sharpness.

Those shots look fine to me. Possibly a little soft but it looks like they were taken at a fairly high ISO, too, and I think that's what I'm seeing.
