Sold my D300 it went to a good home where it will be cared for for a long time to come. It had 28,000 Clks on it still a long life to 150.000. The D300 was the 1st camera that truly "wowed" me I was up until then shooting with a D200. I took the D300 on every trip I went on from one end of Canada to the other and vacations overseas and on a couple cruises. I can honestly say it never ever broke down or give me a lick of trouble. Once I purchased the D700 the D300 became my "backup" what a great pair they made.they both shared the same batteries & Grip plus the controls were very similar. Along came the D7000, great IQ 16mps more resolution which I desperately craved for my wildlife photos. The D300 hits the self used less & less. To make matters worse I fell in love with a D3s next thing you know I am now shooting with the D3s and D7000 as my main bodies the D700 as backup. The D300 gets pushed farther back on the self. Fast forward to this past Sept. I send in my D3s for minor adjustments, it gets destroyed en route to Nikon unable to be repaired. Nikon sends me a refurbused D3s it too gets destroyed en route to me( same courier) hence I now receive a brand new D4 from Nikon. Sadly the D300 is collecting a mountain of dust - because when I shipped out the D3s back in September I picked up a D800( another wow factor) this baby came home shooting big files no issues with left right or centre focus. The D200 sits on the same shelf, it only has 2000 Clks it's brand new I wouldn't sell it. I couldn't let the D300 sit there and let whatever dollar value it still had evaporate so I sold it for a great price. I must say it was hard packing it up and taking it out of the house for the last time, however I have a harddrive full of the memories it captured with me. The D4 / D800 make a great combo these will no doubt be my last pair. I can't see how it can get any better? Besides I will be dead before I can ever out grow them. The D7000 is now my wife's the D700 is my constant companion in my X5 always. So today I said good bye to an old friend.....

Talking about a great camera story and a happy ending. Gotta love them Nikons. :)

Time to move on to greener pasture.

I had a D300s which I let go several months ago. It served me well, even when shooting landscapes, events and weddings. And it was the camera that took most of my newborn son's pictures a couple of years back. Nothing but fond memories of that camera.
