No “support” section on Nikon USA website.

I recently went on to the “Nikon USA” website to check my firmware version. There is no longer a “support” section. You need to go to the particular camera section and chase it down from there. Also you can no longer download manuals on the “Manual Viewer” app as of 8/21/2020.
Seems like a step backwards, loss of support in the form of easy access to firmware update data also the loss of the Q@A resource.
By the way as long as I’m bitchin’ when did Nikon stop providing an actual owners manual with their products? They used to, I’ve got actual printed manuals with my film Nikons as late as the N80. You buy a car, you get a manual, why not a camera?

If you have a smart phone, you can download the App for Adobe Acrobat. Then using a web browser, find the digital manual for the body of your choice. From there, you can save the file under the Adobe Acrobat app on your phone.

Unfortunately, it is becoming more and more apparent that Nikon is heading into a death spiral with some of their executive decisions!

I know the mechanics of doing this, my point is that Nikon made the whole thing a little less user friendly, why?

Why not contact Nikon and ask? I wonder if they are coming out with a new app...

I think you may be having a moment... There's a Support tab on Nikon USA's front page, and the normal support functions are visible on both my Mac using MS Edge and my iPhone...

I would like to Thank you for your rant though, as I did go straight to the firmware Update page for my D810 and downloaded and installed the recent Distortion Control Data file...:)

I am still seeing everything that I have before. I went to Nikonusa.com on my laptop and "Support" was at the top of the screen all the way to the right. I hovered over that and a list, including support, showed up below it and I clicked support again and one of the first things you see is "Find Answers" and that is followed by the download center. At the bottom of the screen is a live chat you can use. It works pretty well. I have used it a few times with some battery issues I was having. I do not use the phone app. I had it for a long time and I never found it very useful. I just keep the paper manual with me.

I wish I could capture a screenshot but that is one of the things that this of the things this hole riddled memory has lost.

This seems to be an issue with my Ipad. The far right on my screen is “NPS”, on my desktop the whole top line shows up including “support”.
a new bug on my laptop. However, the”Manual viewer” app is no longer supported.

You don't need the "viewer" anymore. Just open the manual's PDF on your iDevice and it opens natively... I just downloaded my D810 Manual to the Desktop on my Mac. It shows up in my Files Folder on both my iPhones and iPads, and opens beautifully...

Again, Thanks... for helping me to utilize these resources... What else don't you like? You're making my day finding useful stuff I haven't bothered with before...:)

A 140-page manual in English accompanied the Z50 I received yesterday, along with the same-sized Spanish-language version.

How many are ever looked at? Electronics should come with a quick start guide and a post card or web site link so one can can obtain printed one, free of charge. My printed manual is still in the box. As long a a PDF version is available I'm fine.

The “Manual viewer” just adds a lot of useful tool, e.g. bookmarks and rapid access to various parts of the manual, but as of 8/20/ it was discontinued.

Looking at the bodies listed in your profile, both the D5600 and D3300 should have come with manuals if they are USA bodies and if you bought them new. Depending upon where you purchased the camera, if you bought it new, a few stores will split up what's in the box and sell some items separately. But all the new bodies I purchased have manuals. Refurbished bodies don't come with manuals.

Neither came with a full manual, both were new US models, they came with a very brief over view, which was only a few pages in length, not a full manual by any means
