Rear screen protectors - still needed ?

My D300s had a clear plastic rear screen protector which seems to have done some good over the years.

That camera has built in socket/grooves for the protector to snap into.

Should I be looking for something for my new-to-me D7100 rear screen ?
No snap on capability with this camera but there are adhesive glass protectors available.

I've used them in the past, but don't bother with them now. When I did use them I got good results using Expert Shield, but that is one of the plastic-film screen protectors, not glass.

I never had a protector on my D40 since it was new in 2007 and it doesn't have a mark on it. Same for the D7100 I bought in 2013. I say skip it.

The D7100 has gorilla glass for the rear screen. I think it’s the only DSLR in Nikon’s stable that has it - so far. And as a result you don’t really need additional protection.
