Upgrade d3200

Hi all,

I bought a nikon d3200 a couple years ago to start into photography. Now that I'm more experienced I'd like to upgrade it.

I'd like a DX camera so i can still use my 3 lenses, but with in-built servo for focusing, so i can also use other lenses. I love taking landscape night pictures, stars, long exposures. So also a camera that can handle higher ISO without adding noise.

Any recommendations that would fit me needs? D7200 would be a good choice?

Thanks all for your help

Looks like you answered your own question. The D7200 is an outstanding camera and will do everything you need.

D7200 refurbs are about $800 give or take.
D7100 refurbs are $599 if you want to save a buck for more glass.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.

The D7200 would be a great choice. If budget is a real issue, you might consider a D7100, but I would push for the D7200 for the larger buffer and a little better high ISO. For twice the price of the D7200, you can get a D500, which would give you an even larger buffer and slightly faster focusing for action (which you don't indicate much interest in) and a little better high ISO, but at the expense of less pixels and having to purchase and carry an external flash all the time.

Thank you both for your very fast response. I think I'll go for 7200.

Also which would be a good lens for night photography? I have the 35mm 1.8, but 35 is a bit too much for landscape. What do you think?

One lens I used for the Milky Way when I was on vacation in Southern Utah was the Tokina 11-16 2.8 That was with my D7100 and it did a good job.

And I agree with everyone about the D7200 or the D7100. Both fine cameras. My wife still shoots with my old D7100 and does a great job with it.
