D7300 rumor

They've taken away the only advantage the D7200 had over the D500 with a smaller 20MP sensor, so it'll have better low light and fps capabilities i'm guessing. Sounds like a D500 lite

I dont see why they need a 7300 at this point ...

They just announced massive losses, they have too many cameras in the market in my opinion!

They should only have 3 models in the range Dx and Fx

A beginner , Pro sumer and a pro (D3300 , D7200 and a D500) same thing in the FX range, something like the (D750, D810 and the D5)

I feel they are trying to saturate every inch of the market and for that it devalues some of the cameras and makes it confusing for consumers

A D500 sensor with U1/U2 and built in flash, could be happy days for some.
I'm still getting the D500. I think the D7300 will be a slight improvement over the D7200 as the D7200 is to the D7100.

I took over a thousand shots with the D7200 last week, and did not notice THAT much of an improvement over the D7100. Focusing was about the same and it had slightly better ISO. Maybe a half of a stop. I don't think the D7300 will be much improved over it.

Why would Nikon make a camera that will match or even come close to the D500 for almost half the price? Even they are not that stupid..Are they?

I don't expect that it will match the D500, there will only be 51 focus points, I expect they will use 2 x SD cards, not the XQD like the D500, so it won't have the same frames per second or such a large buffer.
It baffles me a bit that they will drop back to 20mp, not that I would complain if the lowlight performance matched the D500.

They will probably take off the U1/U2 and flash from the D7300.
I really don't see why they would do that, it will be a continuation of the D7*** line.

I also think it would make sense for them to trim down the range. Ditch both the D3000 & D5000 lines and start a D4000 line as the entry range, and keep the D7*00 and D500.
Its hard to see a future for the D600 line, as you say.

Maybe 1 D3000, drop the D5000s, D7400 and of course the D500 and the D750 D810 and D5 and probably drop the Coolpix altogether

3 DX cameras and 3 FX cameras. That would pretty much cover the DSLR lines

It tweaks my interest as a possible future replacement for my D7000. Better low light performance is one thing I want in my next body. 16mp has been working for me (unless I try to crop something way too much) so 20 would be fine. Will just have to see how things go with it.

If the rumors are right, if could be fun for the improved low light performance even if the pixel counts drops to 20 instead of 24mp.

Not so long ago the fashion was to have more and more MP with each successive release. That fashion seems to have waned in favour of better and better low light performance

I'll give up 4MPs for better high ISO for my birding. For my landscapes, no!

Tbh for me, no. This has been my only 'issue' with the D500. Very often i crop heavily as its impossible to get nearer to small birds in the tops of trees, if i heavily crop at high ISO's the image disintegrates whatever camera i use. If a bird is within very reasonable reach, which is rare, i can still get a respectable image at ISO 2500, so for me i'd go for more MP over better low light capabilities anyday.
