D610, D750 or 800 Which One To Purchase????

Good afternoon Nikonites, I now have and will keep my D7100, but I am ready to up grade to a full sensor body. Two main reasons. First, the ability to better shoot in low light situations, and also higher ISO. Second, to get the equivalent focal length of the lens, no crop factor, 20mm ending up being 30mm with the C-Factor. I have been buying FX lenses with the idea of down the road purchasing a full sensor body. I would like to stay around $1500. As I research the options seem to be, New D610, Refeb D750 & Used D800. I'm leaning towards the D750. I bought my D7100 and many lenses Refurbished, and so far my experience has been very good. A friend of mine bought the D800 used with about a 100,000 shutter count for $900 ebay. It was a studio camera like new condition, so far a month later the camera works great. The D800 is a fantastic camera I love it, but I'm not willing to gamble a grand plus with no warranty. So considering the above I am interested in what your thinking. Thanks.

So what kind of photography do you do? Sports/Action/Wildlife have different needs than Landscape. Portrait or Street adds even more different requirements.

Also I notice that your Zooms are all DX, only your primes ares FX. this means you will need to make some glass investment as well to go FX

I started with the D3100 and then upgraded to a D7000 when I learned the D3100. I then upgraded to a D750 and also accumulated a D800 as well. I am self taught and had I known then what I know now, I would have bought FX glass even with the DX bodies because it was not just the purchase price of the camera, but the glass as well going from DX to FX. I love both my full frame bodies so I can't tell you which one is better.

Thanks for you replies. I have been learning my camera and lenses, while playing with many disciplines. At this point I do not have a specialty. Although, I would like a camera to address the two points I mentioned above. These two points I feel the D7100, cropped sensor, is lacking. As to the zooms, the only decent one is the 18-140mm which came with my D5300. The other lens was given to me and is not all that great, so I'm not out anything. Neither of my zooms are planned to be carried over to FX. I enjoy using primes and the sharpness they offer. Down the road I plan to review and buy zooms for the FX. I am looking at the D750 as a decent all around body.

Own 2 of them and shot all three of them. Without a doubt I would go with the D750.

750 has the best high ISO, new model, and it's just a really sweet camera. If you had thrown the D810 into the mix I would be torn, but you didn't so I would go with the 750.

I'm starting to think MM is my Power Animal. That being said...

I bought the D750 when I decided to move to a full-frame body specifically because it's such a Jack of all Trades. I too would have been torn had you listed the D810 but as has been pointed out, you didn't. That's the only camera on the market that can still turn my head when I'm with my D750.

If you've already fallen for the D800 and it does the job you want it to do then that appears to suit your needs. I'm sure there are dealers that would supply some sort of warranty and D800 prices are quite low. Over here the used price for a D800 is significantly lower than a used D750 if price is an issue

I have all 3 bodies.

I converted the D800 to IR simply because as great a camera as it is I have no business shooting 36MP's for most of my stuff, but I love the resolution for IR work.

As for the other two, let's just say that the D610 spends most of its time in a drawer except on occasions where I need multiple cameras using focal lengths in the double digits (I normally carry my D750 and D500 everywhere). The D750 is just a better and more useful camera. I never thought I'd use or want the tilt screen, now I can't live without it. High ISO noise is significantly better on the D750, and I much prefer the feel of the D750 (they've altered the grip by rotating the battery so it's no longer a bump but you can actually grab it). If someone were willing to trade me their D750 for my very low mileage (<8000 clicks in over 2 years, D750 has over 26K) D610 I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Another vote for the 750. I agree with Jake and have no need for 36MP. And the 750 is a much better body than the 610. Better electronics and more features. Good luck; you'll love FF.

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on the D750 Refurbished. Nikon USA has it for $1439.99. That is a 3 month Warranty. Any recommendations for an extended Warranty?

I checked Cameta Camera out with the BBB. They have an A+ rating. I thought I would get the 5 yr Platinum Warranty with the camera $119.99.
Dose any one have any experience with Cameta Care, their warranty program ?

I don't have experience with their warranty at all, but I have heard really good stuff about them and that they have excellent customer service. I saw the prices of the extended warranties as well and I would elect to purchase it as well!!

Out of all the things I have bought from them I never had a reason to use their customer service or warranty. that's a good thing though. I also insure all my equipment through my homeowners policy.

With stuff like this I find that a year is usually more than enough. Refurb or not, if something major comes up with a body Nikon will likely deal with it as a regular repair regardless (I bought a used D600 and eventually got them to swap out a new D610). I see no reason to pony up money you're saving by buying refurb to pay for a warranty you'll likely never need. If something ain't right it'll show early provided you use the heck out of it, which you should.
