Is the D400 even more doubtful now that the D7100 is here?

I am thinking that D400 dreamers better stop dreaming. From what I have been reading on the web for the past 6-8 months, it seems like the D7100 is what the D400 was supposed to be. This article pretty much sums it up:

Is there room for a Nikon D400?

Instead of dreaming of cameras that don't exist yet, why not use what you've got and share some images, keep working at improving your photography skills… Enjoying what you have can make you happier than wishfull thinking about camera's to be MAYBE announced.

The existance of something with no proof of existance can never be more in doubt today than it was yesterday.

How profound  No one said it "existed" like some secret alien spacecraft in Area 51, lol. I'm thinking that serious D300 owners may have a different reaction though.... Actually, they do. Geez, no reason to go all philosophical on us, lol. Hope is what keeps humanity going ;) I'm personally waiting for the D1000. That is going to be one killer of a camera, lol:) If no one dreams of it before it's existence, it will therefore then not come into existence.

The one thing that we are forgetting is that Nikon Corp is there for one reason only: To make money. If they in their corporate glory think they can make more money with a newer model, then they will make it. If they think their lineup is OK like it is, then it will be, dream all you want.

Of course, they have competition and this alone will drive them to getting newer models on the market, but no wishful thinking of mine will make my dreams come true.

This forum is a photography forum, not a wishing well. :)

My "old" D300 still turns out quality images...If a D400 was introduced I would not rush out and buy one...
Dust on the sensor...Oil on the sensor....If it had any of these problems they can keep it....

My wishing well includes a D4s or D4x which reasonably should be somewhere down the production pipeline given previous releases. :p

By naming it you did just that, speaking it into existence like some deity at the dawn of an age. That said, you're not the first and won't be the last.

There's been plenty of flap over the future of a D300 replacement with the introduction of the D7100. Nikon USA touted it as the "Flagship" of the DX line, leaving people to think there would be no successor, but then Nikon in Europe quickly squashed that idea, but without revealing anything.

If you want my opinion, there is a secret alien spacecraft in an Area 51-like laboratory in Japan with just such a body - and probably more than one. And as Marcel pointed out, when Nikon determines that the market's appetite for just such a camera has piqued, they will speak it into existence as well.

I will be sad a bit when the mirrorless SLR comes about, and we are forced to view a LCD monitor for viewing the pictures, and gone will be the real time looking thru ground glass at what the sensor is going to see, instead you will get a processed, time lagged image of pixels,, yippee. but, they will be way simpler to make, and hey, no more oil splashes on the sensor, and opening to dust and mirror/shutter shake.,,, mmm bring on MIRRORLESS!

No, what i did Jake was innocently share an article with the community, an article that i thought was interesting and could spark a bit of discussion. But then i get two pompous jerks lecture me. I'm a bit old to be lectured. No fucking kidding that Nikon will bring out a new camera when they see that the market will accept it. It's quite amusing to see the same people take time out of their day to pontificate to people in this community. I do realize that everyone has their own opinions. But at the end of the day, i was simply sharing an article and by no means stated that something existed when it doesn't. Maybe i should have said "Is a", instead of "Is the". Semantics! I can't beleive that anyone would read so much into a few lines on a forum, twist the words and then lecture someone about how Nikon works, how i "spoke it into existence", etc. How very pathetic! I come here to have fun and to share info and pics with people. This is not fun anymore. Take the stick out of your ass!
