Hello all, not been around for a while. Due to its huge optical zoom, I am thinking of getting the Coolpix B700. Anyone had any experience with this camera ?

After looking at the spec i dont see any benifit over the P900 which you didnt like,ok it has raw but the zoom is considerably shorter,i understand raw files from such a small sensor can be a pig to work with, just dont see it myself.

I've had the b700, auto focus is just to slow, you have to start out at say 14mm and slowly zoom out, and wait till the auto focus caches up.
You can take pictures birds/wildlife, what I did is put bird seed down, focused on 1 spot, wait for the bird to land and take the picture.

You can get planes, but again start out at 14mm and slowly zoom out, again wait for the focus to catch up.

Good for moon shots, but again slowly zoom out

Not worth the money, unless you could get one secondhand for £50, would not pay any more.

Yes its very good, it does have its limitations but hey you get that with any camera. I do use the RAW feature mostly and in the main, I am pleased with the camera, thanks.

I do intend to write a review for this camera it's just that I am going to give it another week or so. There is not a lot to learn about the B700 but it suits my needs being small and very lightweight.
