Nikon Coolpix A External Microphone

Anyone using a Coolpix A with an external microphone? Similar to the SB-700 not having a PC port for flash sync, I have no idea why nikon left out a 3.5mm jack for a mic input - perhaps to keep the package small?

Anyway - My thought is to buy a mini usb > 3.5mm female jack to try out. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N0DTIFM

Before I spend any money on this, has anyone successfully used an external mic with a Coolpix A?

I just found out the Fuji MIC-ST1 microphone kit includes a 2.5mm and 3.5mm to mini USB adapter to work with some of their Fujiulm cameras.... perhaps this adapter is just what I need...

Yes I did realise the post was from 2017, but apparently the OP is still active so I’m hopeful I’ll get an answer at some point. I’ll introduce myself more fully int he thread suggested by @Marilynne
