    Please excuse the Canon!

    Please excuse the Canon!
I've been looking for a decent point and shoot for "casual" stuff. I wanted a viewfinder, which are almost extinct. My other hopes were for a fast lens to hopefully be able to blur backgrounds which is very hard to do with mini sensors. Those and RAW shooting were important factors. The G15 fit the bill, especially with a 28-140mm f1.8-2.8 lens. I'll try not to pollute the forum very often, here's a couple shots, raw 100-140mm @ f2.8

Nice pick up, Rick. Prior to deciding on a mirrorless Nikon 1 camera, I looked at the G15. They're nice. I liked the fast lens and the viewfinder, also. It's also got a nice exposure compensation selector, right on top of the body.

The dials are very nice and well thought out. I can change EV with my thumb on the back wheel; aperture with my index finger on the front wheel and zoom without moving my hand.

I've had a G10 for a few years, and an S90. They're both excellent P/S cameras. The S90 is always in my vehicle 24/7. The G10 is for planned carry where size and weight is an issue.

Canon is not evil. At least not that evil.

    Re: Please excuse the Canon!

I'm not really sure if it qualifies as a P/S but I have had a Nikon CoolPix 5700 for several years. It is only 5MP but it takes very good photos with the 8x zoom with ED glass. The only real drawback to it is the electronic viewfinder eats batteries like it is going out of style. I added a separate battery pack which takes 6AA's and doubles the amount of time over the recharbeable NiCad

Congrats Rick. Couple years ago I bought the Fuji X10 because it had a view finder.
