Can I shoot low resolution with a d5100 without having to download my pics to the computer and reducing the file size in some photo editing program so I can upload to forums

Also how can I rotate my avitar. I tried rotating it on my cellphone where i resides but it did not work

-Feel free to use just any pic reader/editor free of charge - XnView, FarStone, IrfanView...to rotate your pics. There are also built-in such utilities in m$ window$ (Paint and Win Photo Viewer).
-Within the picture modes&sizes in every Nikon (and not only Nikon) camera you've got "standard", "fine" and/or "large", "medium" and "small" sizes to choose between... In D5100's user manual, scroll down to page #49

If ime understanding your question i feel the need to ask why you would want to do that, its best to have your pictures in a high quality file, this can then be manipulated for what ever you want.

Welcome to Nikonites....hope you enjoy your browsing. If you are planning on sticking around, and we hope you do, you may want to list your camera in the settings area above, and tell us what type of equipment you are shooting with. That will let the moderators know in a more timely manner what you may be experiencing. Thanks again for visiting and we hope you stay tuned.
