Having trouble posting images

I tried to post an image in the monthly challenge and it keeps telling me the image is too large. What I am doing is taking an image from Lightroom, exporting it to my hard drive in jpeg format and then trying to upload that image. I have tried numerous settings in the Lightroom export to reduce the size of the image and I still get the error message. My latest try was with a file 3.5 megabytes in size and I still got the error message. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong??

You probably have to reduce the image SIZE. If you make it 1200x1200 you should be OK. I think the maximum image size allowed is around 1.2 MPs. You can also specify a 72 dpi setting for your export.

Hope this does it for you.

Try this

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.

Want a good image resizer that's free, that's also a great image viewer? Download Irfanview. You will LOVE it! :) I use it as my default image viewer and resizer.

Thanks everyone, I got it too work by re-sizing the long edge to 1200 pixels and setting the pixels to 72 per inch. Then I created a Nikonite upload preset for future use.

That's the way I do it to and, once set-up, it's really quick.
