It's likely just me but I don't prefer head-on shots of bands and/or band members. I like it when the angle is something you don't normally see, something the audience can't see whilst watching the show. I love colour as well, as stage lighting usually does some crazy things with lens flare and lighting up the subjects in light you wouldn't normally expect to see. That to me is what makes concert photography so interesting. Also, of course capturing 'moments' (someone pointing into the crowd with their mouth to the mic, a drummer's expression whilst hitting his snare really hard, water bouncing off of it, a sweaty bass player looking exasperated but rocking hard with a 'this is difficult to play' type of expression on his face...)

That all said, Strine Singers is my favorite of the set, could be a bit brighter but I like the feel of it :)

In addition to what I said, certain bands require different approaches. I'm used to shooting very energetic rock bands. A small, intimate setting such as a coffee house with a laid back indie band should have a different feel than a large rock venue.

Try spot metering next time on the subject's face, that will help you overcome the weird lighting sometimes. Watch the shutter speed whilst doing so as well.
