OK, so I decided that I was never going to be able to afford that £500 -£600 ($600 - $1000 for all you in the USA) Nikon 18-200mm d/3.5-5.6 AF-S VR DX lens to add to my small starter kit of 18-55mm / 55-200mm Nikor lenses. So what I thought, I don't seem to be doing so well with what I have so why bother. I know! Defeatist at the very least but a kind of camera depression had set in.
What did I do? I went to my local independent camera store told them my woes and ignored their advice and purchased a very nice, very light, very handy, very versatile ................. Nikon Coolpix P500, yes the one with the big zoom. It was and still is great to use but deep down I was missing my D60 and ALL the other things I could have still been doing with it. Yes, I traded it in!!! Please, stay with me, don't leave and slam the door in my face. I know, I was wrong.
The remedy for this criminal act was simple. I went to Ebay placed a bid for a nice mint condition D60 body and then went and purchased a nice basic 18-55mm Kit lens. It's all I need (and can afford, I am a pensioner after all). So, now armed with two Nikon's I am covered on all the bases I need. Well not quite as I now have my eye on getting a lens for pure close in or portraits. So and readers who have a suggestion for a nice budget alternative to the kit lens would be welcome. Don't forget though I am as they say here in England, "tight". Which means I won't spend a lot of money.
My latest attempts at photography has still been satisfying for me as can be seen in my latest posting after a visit to the beautiful North Devon coast of England just after the Queens Jubilee last June - Take look.
Bye for now!
