A Little Help with Sport Shot

I'm trying to take some shots of our dogs running and jumping, but I cant seem to get stop motion, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Shoot in shutter priority mode at 1/500 of a second. That should do the trick

In that shot, the camera focused on the fence in the background. If I were you, I'd focus on the jump's bar, then turn off auto-focus then shoot the picture when the dog gets to your pre-focused spot. The second thing is that you'll need a shutter speed faster than 1/500s. Use Shutter priority and bring your ISO up to get an acceptable aperture for your shutter speed.
