16:9 video

I'm looking at recording a music video in an old warehouse in the next month or so and am looking for a lens that will work well in grungy lighting (I have diffused lights to "highlight" the musicians, but want the background to be visible for atmosphere). I'd love the lens to record in 16:9 so I can see what would and wouldn't be in frame.

Does such an animal exist?

The 16:9 ratio is not dependent on the lens, instead it is the camera and sensor that do 16:9. Most all video cameras today do that, unless perhaps pretty old and not HD.

Your other thread says a D3200 camera, and the camera live view viewfinder automatically shows the 16:9 area of the movie it is creating. It offers movie modes of 1920x1080 and 1280x720 pixels which are 16:9 (and mode 640x424 which is not). The viewfinder simply shows what it is doing, and it will be right, and there will be no crop issue. Just try selecting movie mode once to see how it works. You will know a lot more after about five minutes.

You mentioned a 16:9 lens hood before, and that probably is an issue. The regular lens hood for the lens you use will work as a hood, and it will be a fine hood, it just won't be as fully tight as 16:9
