    Stuck in port...

This photo was taken at the local harbor, where fishermen are waiting for a resolution to the crab pricing dispute before launching and catching the crab.

    Self Portrait

I set up the back bedroom as a portrait/product photography studio. I shot this self-portrait, and converted it into black and white using Nik Software Silver Efex Pro 2 - what say you?

    Pet Photography...

I'm in the finishing stages of creating a fundraising calendar for the local dog park. This one made it into the prototype calendar, and the owner saw it. She wants two calendars with this photo in it, and she ordered a print of this image as well. What say you?

    Hi from Australia

I'd also recommend you get at least one FAST lens for your pet photography work. I find that most of the dog photography I've been shooting has been done using a nearly wideopen aperture of f/2.8 or higher (if using a fixed focal length). I was laying down in the dirt with my hand...

    Our new pup...

As some of you noticed, about 5 weeks ago, we had to put our beloved Cody to sleep. On Saturday, we went down to the local Humane Society, who provided Cody and Pumpkin, and looked for another young dog to adopt. We saw this pup, and fell in love: She's learning how to get along with the...

    Today I grieve...

One of the saddest images I've ever taken. The mobile vet is here...and the shutter has fallen silent.

    Pear Blossom

Last Friday, I took a trip up to my old hometown of Kelseyville, CA to pick up a trailer from my parents. I figured the trip was a good excuse to take the camera and see if there was anything interesting to capture. The pear orchards are slowly being removed in favor of the vineyards, which is...

    AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm (withdrawn)

We're clearing out lenses we no longer use. This came to us in perfect condition, and since giving my wife the 18-200mm VR lens, she no longer uses this lens. Logo in upper left corner - my business (and screen) name Lens close up Lens close up Showing the information as well as the...

    HDR Efex Pro

My first attempt at creating an HDR image using my new software, Nik Softwares' HDR Efex Pro: The water looks out of focus because the wind is keeping the water moving, and the exposures were bracketed around 1/30th on a tripod.

Agree or disagree with this statement??

This is quoted from a forum I administrate, where we have an off-topic photography thread. The backstory to this: This member decided to start a new photography thread to post DSLR pictures - and we merged the threads. I'm still waiting to see how he defends his position...

    Post a pic of yourself!!

Come on guys and gals. No one here can use the excuse that they don't have a camera... Self-portraits are best (and most challenging), although family vacation shots, fun shots, or portraits work too. Here, I'll start. Shot in a redwood grove between home and the P.O. box I rent in...

    Product Photography...

I picked up three AUTHENTIC Venetian masks recently at a "fleamarket" sale - used to be a restaurant, but someone's pretty much holding a garage sale out of this building. I haven't finished editing the other two, but wondered what people think of this image:
