    The Circle Of Confusion explained

Probably the best explanation ever, well worth a viewing. The only thing it doesn't illustrate is the blades of the iris that give bokeh it's shape with light points. More blades gives a smoother edge to out of focus variations. Circle of Confusion Explained and Illustrated - YouTube

D100 arrived without body cap: best way to clean out any dust particles?

A filter would be a good idea but it doesn't have one (I opened mine up to check), just a flap valve. It would be easy to put a mini filter in the rear opening, just make sure it doesn't go in so far that it interferes with the flap valve.

    Post your Cemetery Shots!

Re: Post your Cemetary Shots! P.S. This pic is showing the front of the stones, many are too worn to read but some of the readable ones are well over 200 years old.

jus thought id share my amiture photos i took today

Your profile says image editing is ok... This is edited in View NX. Highlight protection turned to maximum to stop the Sun widening. Shadow protection raised to about two thirds along the slider. Contrast adjusted to balance the other settings. That's all, no other adjustments done. At these...

    Post your Train shots!

It's an amazing line through beautiful countryside. The steam trains, carriages lines and stations are kept running by volunteer enthusiasts. Tickets are expensive but not too pricey and it's well worth it. The cost of the tickets funds the expenses of fuel, spare parts, purchases etc. but the...

Is this one better, different photo. Better composure and more natural colours?

    Fishermans tractor

Hi folks, I've given critique so it's only fair I let others critique my photos. 35mm f1.8 1/4000th Post processed for saturation and contrast. There was a clear blue sky so I framed the tractor higher up than normal. Now I'm thinking more blue sky and less sand would have been better...

Need a little feedback on this one - dog jumping

The dog is jumping out of the picture, if you do a shot side on, or even slightly side on, I think the dog needs to jump into the picture. Kinda like this rough cut and paste. Even jumping into the picture, I'd rather see a portrait shot to give height to the image.

    Post your Moon Shots

Good clear sky so had a go myself. Sigma 70-300 300mm f8 1/320 ISO 200 Manual focus White balance, direct sunlight Cropped & sharpened. Sventek, what was your lens, you have so much detail there.

    Crop conundrum

Lovely dreamy photo, nice shot. With the band of cloud above the horizon, it doesn't give the impression of the photo being cut in half. Having said that, I think I would crop the upper cloud out and it does look over exposed to me and lacking contrast. It may well have looked as bright as the...

How would I know its a Micro lens from title

Or you could use a reversing ring like I did here. This shot with a 35mm reversed. This shot with kit 18-55 set to 18mm and reversed.

How to shoot exactly what I see?

Anyone thinking the video was a fake, print this image. All diamonds are identical. The white sections at the top of the image is the only different part.

    105 macro buying advice

I'm also interested in macro photography at 1:1 or better but my route is to try using a reversed lens first. Much cheaper if I decide it's not really for me, only cost £9 and results are good. Already tried it with a locust too and although not a well composed shot, it does show what you can do...

    Reversed lens macro on D5100

OK so I got a reversing ring from Amazon to have a go at macro with reversed lenses. Here are some pics to give a comparison. All pics are of the same AA battery. Using the 18-55 kit lens, set at 55mm (shorter focal length gives more magnification when the lens is reversed) 1st pic with a...
