Here is a report on the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f1.8G mounted to the D700
Maybe too close during the test.

Today's results are very much like the previous. These were all done with version 1.9.11.416. The number rating for the most part, hovers near the 2,000 for the best aperture. Does anyone know how the numbering system was derived?

Some pretty radical ups and downs for the Tamron 70-300.

The first 2 are of the Nikkor 50mm, old version of FoCal first and new version second.

Great idea (posting the FoCal reports)!

Now that I've isolated my issue to target lighting, I need to spend some time getting lenses dialed in. I'll post reports as I do.

These reports are the results using the D700 body with the AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm 1:4 G ED lens. Pretty sweet if ya ask me. After a few shots I could see it was off considerably from the zero setting and needed adjustments. At 38mm it required a -13 and at 98mm a -16. I chose -14 and will go with that all the way through.

Other lenses require negative settings also which is ok with me. If different lenses required vastly different corrections, that would be a concern. The test results I have gotten from this software shows that Nikon to Nikon matings are pretty consistent. Notice this lens is consistently above 2200 with a low of 2160.

Something that would be a nice feature with focal would be to run the auto focus test using the optimum aperture. The default is wide open.
