I finally got one!!! I was 30-40 yards away shooting a good 10 feet from the back of the end zone on this one... And forgot to shoot in RAW... I'm very impressed with this lens... Still cannot take a good bird shot to save my life though! Practice, practice, practice.

Focus is sharp where it should be...

I'm still struggling with mine. I shot some swans up close with the Tam at 500-600 , then my Nikon 70-200, and got crisper shots by shooting with the Nikon and cropping to the same composition. Also, damn near every single Nikon shot was a keeper. Very few of the Tam shots were good enough to keep. I really hope it's defective.

To be honest i dont see it comparing well with the 70-200 within its range, its about what you can get for your money, especially longer range small birds, have you tried it on a tripod.

Most of the time it takes time and patience to get the feel of a new lens, especially one that weighs so much. Give it time and I am sure you will get some good results.
