I purchased this last October with the intention of making it my primary walking around lens for my D7000. Less than a month later the D600 sale had me moving to FX and this lens became redundant. This is an FX lens. That said, if you read reviews if it gets any knocks it's at the corners and edges at maximum aperture - on a full sensor camera. For use on a DX camera you miss those spots since they're outside sensor range, so you get a tack-sharp f2.8 zoom that is a terrific performer and perfect walking around and portrait zoom. I will post sample images in the next day or two if it does not sell before then (both sensor types). Comes with Hoya 82mm HD UV filter (over $100).

$725 shipped in the CONUS (email me for overseas). Email preferred to PM. [email protected]

Hey folks, this lens just got ranked #2 by DxOMark after the "Trinity" 24-70mm f2.8 Nikkor in the "Standard Zoom" category for best lenses for the D800. Pretty Impressive.

DxOMark - Nikon D800 and standard lens choices

There have been some questions regarding performance at low apertures. I took a series of JPG's at f2.8, 4 & 5.6 at 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 70mm (or the closest approximation based on the zoom dial) and uploaded them here. These are jpegs taken directly from a D800 with no editing other than to add an extension to the file name (_DSCnnnn-70f28 means 70mm at f2.8). All were shot in Aperture priority mode, which I found interesting since exposure is different at the same focal length but different aperture ... but that's a camera thing, right? :)
