I am on the fence with the latest sales going on. I have a couple of Yongnuo flashes and a 622trigger. I have been looking at the Flashpoint EV200 kits. Godox is on sale and so is the Flashpoint flash bundles. Those who have switched must feel it is worth the extra money. I am wanting to have the ability to overcome backlighting from the sun with a flash which I assume the Flashpoint/Godox EV200 would be the ticket. Adorama has a two head and pro trigger kit with gels, dual head holder, strobe and flash heads, etc. Only thing I see missing are reflectors for the strobe and umbrellas or soft boxes. Do the two systems work well together (Flashpoint/Godox}? Flashpoint vs Godox= Ford vs Chevy? Quality?

Any thoughts. Even on sale it is really more money than I want to spend, but biting the bullet seems to be what I want to do. What am I missing or what additionally do I need to think about.

TIA

Walt, many of their lights themselves are identical (Flashpoint/Godox) except for the name branded on them. I *think* they are also sold under a third party name (at least the AD200 units). You can mix them any way you want providing you are using twins (meaning ones that are identical except for branding).

If you get 2 AD200 units, you can combine them with a Dual Flash Bracket (AD-B2). That will give you 400 watts of power. And maybe that's what you meant when you said dual head holder?

If the sun is behind your subject, you should be fine. But if the sun is shining directly on your subject from the front, quite often 600 watts or more works better (depends on how bright the sun is).

I use MagMod for a lot of my modifiers so am not familiar with the packages.

Soft boxes tend to be a little better than umbrellas but also cost more. Bigger soft boxes offer softer light. Soft boxes with a white interior are softer than those with silver; however, silver offers slightly more contrast - and possibly a slight amount more light being reflected. Outdoors you wouldn't want a soft box that is overly large (can blow over more easily than a smaller one). Deeper soft boxes give less light than a shallower soft box of the same diameter. And deeper ones tend to act more like having a grid (more directional). There's nothing wrong with deeper ones - just depends on what you want to achieve.

If the packages come with either the Pro trigger or the less expensive one, everything I've heard about the less expensive one is sometimes it fires intermittently. The Pro trigger is much more reliable.

By the way, if you are considering an extended warranty for the lights, I *think* you can purchase a Square Trade warranty from B&H even if you purchase the Flashpoint lights from Adorama or another source. I've heard better and more consistent reviews with Square Trade than Leaf (if that's what Adorama's is called). But go with whatever you choose. I think you have up to 30 days to buy an extended warranty - at least if you order the lights via B&H you have the option to buy the warranty within one month.

Okay. That's different than just the barndoor kit. I wouldn't want to see you get that other kit you linked previously. The reason being is just within the past couple of days, I read a FB group post about someone who ordered some type of light or light modifier from Adorama. The price was amazing. But when they opened the package, it was clearly a customer return (meaning it wasn't quite new). Things were scuffed, and a cord was wound up by someone (not wrapped as a new cord should be). Sometimes I am concerned with Adorama's great prices because I ran into a similar situation with a Sigma lens purchased thru them.

But this might be a legit sale price for the entire kit - not a price based on a customer return. I don't see any type of kit offered by B&H that includes 2 lights with the kit. This looks really good, Walt.

That is a nice kit Walti switched to Godox with the Z6 and I like their equipment . I did not go with the AD 200, but I have a tt865 and the Flashpoint version of the f1. I also have the X2Tn trigger. The Flashpoint came with many of the modifiers in your kit.

I love the Godox equipment. It is very easy to use. The kit you are looking at makes sense to me. I am enjoying off camera flash much more with Godox and Flashpoint. I used the f1 and the X2T to do family photos and it worked well. I think that is a good price too.

Well, I dropped the hammer and purchased the AD200 Dual head kit and a couple of soft boxes (Glow EZ Lock 25" and the Glow EZ Lock 10 x 24 strip beauty dish). Now I have to get some ditches dug to pay for this. Ha!

Congrats Walt! I am sure you will like that. But you did cost me money. I ended up with the Flashpoint eVOLV 200 TTL Pocket Flash with Barndoor Kit Built-in R2 2.4GHz Radio Remote System, which is the Godox AD200. It was a nice price. I did not get any soft-boxes though.
