SB-5000 Review/Thoughts?

Do you have a D5 or D500 ?

Nope, but they killed the SB-910 and the SB-5000 is the only shipping model that would still use my SD-9 battery packs.

But that's why I'm asking ... seems like the SB-5000 is only relevant to D5/D500 shooters to begin with, unless I'm missing something.

Nikon is showing the SB-910 on their web site for Sale ?????

They added the Radio triggering to the SB-5000 and I believe the trigger is built into those two cameras. The SB-5000 still does the CLS using the infrared signaling... You have to buy the Wt-something to add the radio trigger to any of the other Nikon cameras...

The SB-5000 is $600 and the trigger for the non-radio cameras is another $100ish...

Unless you have a reason to buy a new SB-910, and you want to continue using your external battery paks... I'd look at Nikon Refurb'd SB-910

Wayne may have a different take on this subject...

Could be that's what I get for only looking at one reseller. I thought Adorama or B&H was showing the 910 as discontinued and out of stock, but maybe they are where Nikon is still clearing out inventory.

Thanks for confirming my thinking on the SB-5000 Fred!
