Which is the fastest way to shift from ambient light to TTL flash?

HI all!!!

Let's say that you are shooting indoor (like in a church) using ambient light and quite high ISO and you want to shift fast to TTL flash.

Would you choose to be in M mode and just drop down ISO and activate flash? Would you have custom settings like U1 or U2? Would you choose to be in Auto ISO and let the camera drop down ISO when with flash?

Thank you!!!

If I were in a "church" taking pics., that would probably indicate I was being paid, in which case, I'd probably have two cameras, one for each situation...

I'd say it depends on what is driving you to change from ambient to flash in the first place.

Weddings are fun because there are different "shooting" environments going on during the one time span. Where I've seen the need to use U1 and U2 is in switching from the ceremony itself to times like the procession in/out of the venue, in which case I'm not just changing the equivalent exposure from introducing flash, but probably changing SS and/or f-stop as well.

I use U1 and U2 for "solve it fast" shooting . It's a A priority with 1/200 min SS and autofocus with AE-L / AF-L , as suggested here: https://fstoppers.com/education/how-i-have-my-camera-set-shoot-weddings-73441

Anyway it's a catholic baptism. Much simplier than a wedding.

Thank you very much for your nice words Walt!!!
It was really fun, specially the reception part when the stress to get the baptism moment was over.
