Where is the flash settings on my d7200 ??

I should like to flash the i40 off camera wout using the on camera flash

in order to get my flowers flashed from the side only

I think the i-40 has a mode to work with the D7200 Commander. The settings are in the commander menu, for group A, B, C to match the flash settings.

Regarding flashing: The commander must always still flash to trigger the remote, but this flashing setup signal is before the shutter opens.
If you set the commander menu for the cameras internal flash to mode "- -" (disabled, to Not contribute), then it does not flash after the shutter opens (does not contribute).
Except there is still a weak sync flash to trigger the flash, which can become more significant in shiny reflective subjects up close, or at wide aperture.

wayneF. Yep That worked! d7200 in Commander and mode disabled. Put Nisson on A
Then it flashes w out flashing the Nikon flash. Perfect!

Its not the Sun, its Nissin!
It was almost dark, heavy overcast and rain.

If we ever had these back in the 80ies - Sigh!

Not a great shot, but it will do for an old botanist :)
