Got my tax refund figured out. Nice bit of coin coming back, so I went and bought a SB-600. I like how my popup worked for the fill flash, and wanted better reach for that, as well as better lighting.

A few folks suggested I pick up an SB-900 when I was looking for a flash. Economy lead me to the SB-600. I can't compare it to an SB-900 as I haven't seen one in action, but I do like the SB-600.

I am getting very interested in getting an SB600. Where did you get yours? I am looking around and most places still have them for close to $300. I was hoping to find one around $200. Any ideas? I have a Bower flash that does just fine if you are using it only on the camera. I want to get it off the camera. The Bower will work off camera but only with the flash on the camera only through a primary flash, no wireless signal. Does not work nearly as well that way.

I think a good idea might be to consider a refurbished SB-600 direct from the Nikon Store. They have an SB-600 for a very reasonable $179.96 - nothing wrong buying a refurb. - great deals to be had. Check it out HERE

I have a SB600, it's okay, however the SB700 runs circles around it. The 600 now is on remote permanately Yes the SB700 cost more, it's easier to use, it acts as a "Commander" and is more powerful all in about the same size package. I find the SB600 not very user friendly. Having said all that I used my Sb600 for a long time and it did serve me well.

I'll sell you mine for $200, including the difusers.

James, thanks for the Nikon outlets store link. I have contacted Jack regarding his 600 and we will see where that goes. Appreciate the responses. Salvatore, would love a 700 or for that matter an 800 or 900 but budgets are what they are. I don't do a lot of flash work but learning more and want to expand my abilities.
Recently bought the book "The Strobe Diaries" and it has some great information on creating your own light and not having to rely on ambient light. I won't be doing all the things he does but then he is a pro with more money in cameras than I have in my car. But like my dad told me, "you don't own a boat or vacation property" so I guess I can spend SOME money on my NAS. LOL

Anyway......long story short..........Mark got himself a refurb from the Nikon store. So I put mine up for sale on Kijiji. So it all worked out OK. :)

My SB-600 got here last night form Nikon. WOW, I love it. Glad I grabbed it from the Nikon outlet store when I did, they don't have any more SB-600s refurbed right now for that $179 price. It is just an amazing flash from what I have seen so far. Very pleased!

I didnt like the way the wireless triggers in my current price range where limited to manual flash mode only. I went with the SC-28 for now, and they have the ability to add more flashes via PC sync port. Eventually I will get an SU-800, as I dont see me upgrading to a body with commander built in, any time soon.

LOL..so am I, Dave. :) I can see one in my future. :)
Update!
I have looked to the future, and the future is NOW! :) Picked one up this afternoon. Man, this thing ROCKS! So easy to navigate the menu, and it comes with diffusers and colour correction diffusers, too. Love it! :)
