how about speedlight flash that has a led light for video work as well?

besides my idea for a tiny lcd monitor in the viewfinder a la google google glass, I think a flash with a tiny led flash in the body for video work would be nice, and save space so you dont need to carry another flash. something like this one by metz. it includes a 2nd fill flash but im sure a led could be fitted in this area. would be helpful im sure. not my idea, but my best friends. even if its a little light, it can be the difference between a useable footage and one thats lost. even the little light on the smartphone helps in many situations so Im sure one could be done that just enough for many situations.

look at this pic. even if they used a small strip in the flash, that would be enough

You are right - even a very small amount of additional light, often can "save" your video (at distances up to a few meters from your camera). On one occasion I used a cell phone's LED lamp as an additional light when videoing with Olympus PEN, at some birthday party (nothing professional though, I could have used a phone's video camera for that matter - we were just fooling around) and the results were quite acceptable...

sweet! but im talking about the fact that it could be implemented as standard. like they did with video. it can be done and added without too much complications. notice how the small light in your smartphone is so helpful at times..and thats one light. if they added a small strip of 4-6 lights, that would be stellar. sometimes when your packing light for trip, the lightest thing will make a difference. so its a light small led flash, an then another battery pack and another this and that and before you know it, that bag gets heavy.

all I know is that its time for nikon to release wireless slaved flashes and if they added something like this in their speedlight, it would be wonderful.

it would definitely up their game compared to canon. im sure something with the regular strobe light and a small led strip (maybe even 2 small rows of 4-6 leds each can easily be done I think) it would give an all in one solution. I think it can be done.

more than anything I think a small lcd in the VF would really be an innovative idea. shoot and see instance feedback and not lose the moment. you can shoot once, change exposure with the dials while and not lose a critical image. now that would be innovative.
