The F5

I still have my F5 and still love it. Nice to still be able to do film (in case the whole digital scene ever crashes . . .God forbid!) and it helps to remember from "whence we came".

Best Regards

I bought one of the first F5s in the UK and immediately went out into the frozen wilds of Bosnia, shooting images for the British Army. The camera worked absolutely faultlessly, apart from a tendency to eat batteries. This was cured by a tweak at Nikon UK and since then I have put thousands of the rolls of film through it before retiring it, along with my Nikon F4S and F90 in 2004 when I changed to digital. I've still got all the film cameras and occasionally take them out of the cabinet for a nostalgic shoot with colour negative...

Trouble is, with 15 Nikon Fs, 4 Nikkormats, a Nikon F2, an F3 HP, an F801, an F90, an F4S and an F5 it gets very expensive on film and processing!

Its one of the cameras , I have looked at recently as they are a bargain selling for pennies considering their original cost. You can buy one for a couple of hunderd dollars now. I have still not decided between this and the F4 or F100, I honestly like the F4 best because it has actual knobs and I like knobs. I know that may sound silly, but since I have been shooting the D40 for the last few years, I know the F5 would be more similar to that experience as would the F100. At some point I will figure it out. I am just amazed at how little these cameras seem to be worth used now days. I know a lot of it has to do with the fact that everyone is mostly shooting digital but still it amazes me.

Any F5 owners here?

Yes, why do you ask? ;)

I just received mine a week ago and I am loving every minute of it. It is built like a tank, has a distinct feel and sound to it that makes you feel like a pro.

I picked this up for an amazingly small amount of money and I am delighted with the purchase.
